Components We Inspect For You?

Leaf: Is free from damage, cracks, or warping and there are no holes or gaps in the surface of the leaf and all lipping's are intact and in good condition

Frame: Is firmly fixed to the wall? Are there no gaps between the door frame and the wall and all fixings are the correct type and spaced evenly.

Gaps: Are consistent and are between 2mm-4mm. Also check the gap under the door (threshold) 8mm or less for smoke control doors.

Intumescent: Are in place and undamaged and they securely attached to the frame or door. We also check the correct seals are being used for the door/frame rating.

Closers: Close door leaf fully against the frame from any open position and at a consistent speed (not slamming or dragging) and the openers are functioning correctly and releasing the door when the fire alarm is activated.

Hinges: If the correct number of hinges being used and securely fixed to the door and frame with all screws present, tight, free of rust and undamaged. Also the spec of the hinges are checked for the fire rating suitability.

Glazing: If the glass is fire rated, intact and free from cracks or scratches. We also check if the glazing bead in good condition and securely fitted.

Furniture: if the furniture is fire rated, secure and operational and the locks and latches are functioning properly without sticking.

Signage: The appropriate signage is in place and at the recommended heights (e.g., “Fire Door – Keep Shut” or “Fire Door – Keep Locked)

Functionality: If the door opens and closes smoothly without obstruction and latch securely when closed.

Certification: If the door has a certification label, plug, or markings to confirm its fire rating (e.g., FD30 or FD60)

Inspections: Regular inspections are being carried out every six months as standard. Record findings in a fire door inspection log.
